Rotary District 1020 - How to use RSS news feeds

RSS News FeedsRSS: A new way to get your Rotary news

The Rotary District 1020 website is equipped with three RSS news feed channels;

What is RSS?

The official RSS logo, established to identify syndicated contentRSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a basic form of Web page that sends news headlines and other Web content to subscribers. RSS users register to news feed links like the ones listed above and have regularly updated news sent straight to them.

News feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines in one place, as soon as its published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.

Some Rotary Clubs and District Web sites use RSS news feeds from other sources to complement their existing content. These clubs are encouraged to subscribe to Rotary International’s official news feed, providing the latest links to official announcements, project stories, featured articles from The Rotarian and Rotary International Interactive, as well as other RI media.

What do I need to subscribe to RSS feeds?

An RSS news reader is a software application that monitors feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser or integrate with an email program like Microsoft Outlook. If you have a browser such as Mozilla Firefox or if you have a tool-bar plug-in for Microsoft Explorer, you can add RSS content to your 'Live Bookmarks' or 'Favorites' folders.

Some readers are standalone applications which you can download from the web. These are designed to run from your computer's desktop. A list of popular RSS readers can be found at http://blogspace.com/rss/readers.
